“They beat me out my car, drug me across the parking lot I laid there in blood,” said victim Tyler Chamberlain.
A simple stop at an east Des Moines QuikTrip turned violent for one Iowa man.
He says last Thursday he was randomly and brutally assaulted by about 10 juveniles in the parking lot.
“It’s one of those things where everywhere I go I have to look behind me twice,” victim Tyler Chamberlain said.
Chamberlain says he and his fiancé had just left the Kane Brown concert at the Iowa State Fair and stopped by the gas station before heading home.
He says the assault was completely random.
Chamberlain has sustained injuries and bruises all over his body as well as a black eye.
“It’s very traumatizing, I’m publicly humiliated because of the way I look. It’s not right, it’s not fair to me,” Chamberlain said.
Des Moines police have not identified any suspects yet. And to that, Chamberlain says not enough is being done to ensure it won’t happen again.
“I’ve received one phone call that said they’re looking into it. Well, I’d hope so, but that’s all I get. I need answers, I need something to be done about this. Whether it’s through the cops, whether it’s getting information out to the public,” he added.
Now he’s seeking justice so he can have peace of mind.
A place he once frequented with his family now is the reminder of where a senseless act of violence took place.
“QuikTrip was a place we used to go to three times a day. I mean it’s so convenient, it’s right up the road. But now we go a little further to feel safer,” Chamberlain said.
KCCI did ask for video of the incident and police said they have it.
But since this is an open investigation, they are not able to provide it at this time.
